The Government of Nepal, specifically the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Rastriya Anusandhan Bibhag (National Investigation Department) located in Barafbagh, Kathmandu, has announced vacancies for the positions of Investigation Officer (Anusandhan Adhikrit) and Investigation Assistant (Anusandhan Sahayak). The selection committee meeting held on 2080/03/01 has decided to advertise these vacancies and invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens who meet the required qualifications.

Eligibility Criteria

Education Requirements

Investigation Officer: A bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of 2.

Investigation Assistant: At least a Proficiency Certificate level or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of 2.

If your degree is obtained from a foreign institution, a certificate from Tribhuvan University must also be submitted.


Age Requirements

Investigation Officer: Males should be between 21 to 25 years old and females between 21 to 30 years old. For National Investigation Department employees, the age limit is up to 35 years.

Investigation Assistant: Males should be between 18 to 25 years old and females between 18 to 30 years old. For National Investigation Department employees, the age limit is up to 35 years.

Application Process

Interested candidates need to log in to the National Investigation Department website (www.nidept.gov.np) to fill out the application form online, providing personal details and necessary documents.

After verification by the department, a roll number will be assigned, and candidates can log in using their ID and password to print the admit card.


Mandatory Documents

While filling out the online application, candidates are required to attach the following documents:

> Recent passport-size photograph (maximum 300 KB)

> Scanned copy or photograph of Nepali citizenship certificate

> Scanned copy or photograph of the candidate's signature

> PDF file/scanned copy or photograph of mark sheet and character certificate of the prescribed educational qualification or equivalent

> PDF file/scanned copy or photograph of the certificate for candidates belonging to Adivasi/Janajati, Madhesi, Dalit, and Backward Areas (issued by the official body)


Syllabus and Application Fee

The exam syllabus can be downloaded from the National Investigation Department website (www.nidept.gov.np/career).

The application fee varies based on the position:

> For the post of Investigation Officer: Rs. 1,000 (additional Rs. 200 for multiple groups)

> For the post of Investigation Assistant: Rs. 300 (additional Rs. 60 for each group)

The exam fee can be paid online through eSewa and ConnectIPS or offline at any branch of Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited. Candidates must also submit a minimum income of Rs. 1,000 (one thousand rupees).


Application Period and Examination Center

The application registration period is within 30 days from the initial publication of the notice in the Gorkhapatra (until 2080/03/31).

The examination center for Investigation Officers is the Kathmandu Examination Center of the Public Service Commission, while Investigation Assistant applicants can choose from the Public Service Commission offices in Dhankuta, Jaleshwar, Hetauda, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Parennagar, and Dhangadhi.


Additional Details

Applicants must ensure the correct and proper filling of the application form to be eligible for the examination.

Candidates must carry a copy of the admit card and citizenship to each stage of the examination.

The results will be published after each round of examination, and only successful candidates will proceed to the next stage.

Successful candidates in the written examination will undergo a detailed health check-up at the hospital of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, as per the hospital's standards.

Only candidates who pass the medical examination will proceed to the subsequent stages of the examination.

Candidates attending the final stage interview examination must bring their qualification certificates, inclusion group opening documents, and certified copies of the same.

Individuals convicted of criminal offenses involving moral turpitude or affiliated with illegal institutions or organizations are not eligible to participate in the examination.

Government employees who have qualified in the open competitive examination for the post of Investigation Officer and Investigation Assistant can also apply, provided they submit the required approval document from their current office.

The selection committee will recommend successful candidates for the posts based on the General Principles for promotion to the post of National Research Department, 2066, and Nepal Special Service Rules, 2044, in consultation with the Public Service Commission.
